If a company’s representative or owner does not have a residential address in Hungary,
the law requires them to appoint a delivery agent. This applies both to private individuals and when the owner is another company.
Why is this necessary?
The role of the delivery agent is to ensure that official company mail does not have to be sent abroad.
Instead, official documents are sent to the appointed agent residing in Hungary, such as:
- Court documents
- Letters from the Tax Authority (NAV)
- Notifications from the Company Registry
These are officially registered with the Company Court, so authorities will formally send letters to the agent.
What is the delivery agent’s responsibility?
The agent is required to:
- receive the official mail
- immediately notify the client
- and inform them of the content of the letter
This way, the client can respond to official requests in time, even if they are abroad.
